How many people does an entree serve?

Each entree serves 4-6 people depending on your family's appetite.

Can I bring a friend to the session? Each guest in the kitchen prepares a minimum of 6 meals. Please call for availability to accomodate any special requests.

Can I bring my child to a session? Our license requires the minimum age of our guests to be 12 due to the nature of a commercial kitchen. Occassionally we can accomodate older children to assist if space provides. Please call first to check availability.

Can I improvise on the recipe?
Of course, you may follow our recipes exactly or add a little more of a favorite ingredient or even leave an ingredient out. Only our meat is portion controlled, customize the rest.

What do I bring?
All you need is a cooler to transport your meals home. We supply all the food and freezer containers. Feel free to bring your special bake ware or casserole dishes if you'd like.

What does a session cost? How do I pay?
A make 'n take session of 10 meals is $215.00. For a six meal session the price is $150.00. Add $25 for 6 meals and $35 for 10 meals, if you would like the Chop Shop staff to prepare your meals for carry out. Private sessions are the same cost but the scheduler receives a 20% discount on a session with at least 8 confirmed guests.

What if it's just the two of us? We know that not all of our customers have big families or big appetites. For this reason, we offer the option of dividing your meals into two smaller portions. There is an additional fee of $10 for 6 meals and $15 for 10 meals, if you would like to divide.

How do I register?
Call us at 248-594-2210 or log on to register online. You can also register in person at the Chop Shop kitchen.  Because we place food orders in advance, we ask that you register at least 48 hours in advance of your preferred session.

What is the cancellation policy?
We understand that certain situations come up that may require you to cancel or reschedule your session reservation. We do place your food order in advance and ask for a 3 day notification and we would be happy to apply a credit towards a future session if scheduled within 2 weeks.  Cancellations less than 3 days in advance of your session are subject to a 30% restocking fee.  Private parties require 3 weeks notice of cancellation. This policy allows the Chop Shop to continue to offer you healthy and nutritious meals at a reasonable price.

How do I cook my meals?
Every meal you prepare will have a label with complete and simple cooking instructions. These labels will also help identify your meals clearly and the date you prepared it.

How do I get 10 meals in my freezer?
It's a lot easier than you think because the meals are packaged in a variety of disposable pans, freezer bags and foil packets. There are no bulky boxes like frozen meals purchased from the store. This will fit easily in a standard freezer with plenty of room to spare.

What if I forget to thaw my meal before dinner?
Not to worry! Many meals from the Chop Shop can easily go from freezer to oven. See our helpful hints about defrosting in the microwave as well. Protecting your frozen assets

How can I extend the value of my Chop Shop meals?
We've got plenty of Stirring Ideas to extend the value of your session!
